Manchester Township police responded to the wreck on South Hope Chapel Road near Ridge Avenue at around 2:48 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, the department said in a news release. Officers found a 2008 Jeep Liberty on fire with no one inside the SUV off of South Hope Chapel, along with damage to a sign and a tree.

Investigators said the Jeep was heading south on South Hope Chapel when it crossed the center line, left the road, and hit the sign. The SUV continued south until it struck the tree and stopped in the northbound shoulder.

A 49-year-old Manchester woman was rushed by helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. She was listed in stable condition at the Neptune hospital.

South Hope Chapel was closed as police investigated and crews cleaned up the scene. Firefighters from Manchester and Ridgeway helped with the fire, and paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Manchester also responded.

Police are still investigating but the main cause of the crash appeared to be "driver error."
