Firefighters extinguish burning semi at Pocatello towing business

POCATELLO — A semi was destroyed by a fire at a Pocatello towing business on Saturday night.

The fire was reported by an employee of Prime Towing around 9:30 p.m. at the tow yard located on the 2700 block of North Main Street, according to the Pocatello Fire Department.

The employee first tried to extinguish the blaze with a fire extinguisher but was unsuccessful, so he dialed 911, the fire department said.

Pocatello firefighters responded and extinguished the burning semi in about 10 minutes.

The semi had an attached car hauler trailer but only the semi’s cab was gutted by the flames

The fire did not spread to other parts of the business and nobody was injured as a result of the blaze.

The fire department says that it appears the blaze started around the dash of the semi based on witness statements and burn patterns.

The exact cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
