Camper fire closes Englewood road

ENGLEWOOD — Englewood firefighters fought a blaze that apparently started in a camper and spread to a barn Wednesday afternoon.

Dispatchers sent 11 fire trucks to the 500 block of Artists Avenue for the blaze at 2:23 p.m.

Sarasota County Sheriff’s deputies closed off most of Van Gough Street, off Artists Avenue, while firefighters worked to contain the blaze.

Fire Chief Kevin Easton said the fire crews were able to get the fire out without injuries. He said there were some propane tanks in the barn, but the tanks did not ignite.
