    Body of 31-year-old man recovered from Waukee pond

    WAUKEE, Iowa — The body of a 31-year-old man who went missing in a Waukee pond on Thursday has been found.

    At around 3:33 p.m. the Waukee Police Department and Fire Department responded to a report of a water rescue at a city pond in the 2500 block of Grand Prairie Parkway. According to the fire department, two witnesses reported that they lost a fishing pole in the pond and asked a man working nearby for help. The man, identified as a 31-year-old, went into the water but never resurfaced.

    A wet rescue team was deployed and at about 6 p.m. the Metro STAR dive team located the 31-year-old’s body. The victim’s name has not been released.

    The Waukee Fire Department was assisted by the West Des Moines Fire Department and Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.
