A little before 7 pm on Monday, April 5, a car was spotted crashed into a ravine in east Oakland. More correctly, the ravine is a waterway for rain runoff between the streets.

The incident occurred at 75th Ave and the Hegenberger offramp. The car was overturned.

By 7 pm multiple officers were on the scene.

Police advised there was downed fence north of 73rd Ave and Hamilton. The fence prevented people from getting into the ravine.

According to one report, the overturned car in question clipped a truck while driving at high speeds, then went airborne over the fence.

Do you have any information about this incident? Check in with Oakland Police Department.

Although, it’s likely they have all the information they need.

It’s unknown at this point if whoever crashed the car is injured or not.

    The Purpose of Watersheds

These waterways or watersheds are in place to reduce rainwater or stormwater pollution. When it rains in a city, the rain collects trash, oil, plastic and other types of pollution toward the creeks, lakes, and Bay.

Recycling and proper disposal of garbage is important for the environment in general and our local Bay Area environment as well. The effects can be felt almost immediately.

It’s advised residents don’t swim in the Bay after a storm.

While watersheds don’t ordinarily provide a stopping place for crashed vehicles, we are hopeful this car will find its way back out again.
