An injured bystander was foisted into a wheelchair after a car chase ended in a crash after 8:30 pm on Tuesday, April 13.

A robbery was reported at 8:31 pm. Police began searching for a robbery suspect.

This led officers on a brief car chase toward Oakhurst in Los Angeles before crashing.

Near 8947 Gibson, wearing grey over black, East of Robertson, the suspect abandoned the crashed car and ran behind houses in the area. This was at approximately 8:32 pm.

Police requested additional units to establish a search perimeter for the driver.

A helicopter was called to hover over the area and aid in the search as well.

Medical units arrived on scene to help bystander who was experiencing cardiac arrest. They administered CPR.

In Citizen videos, it appears the bystander was conscious.

As of 9:48 pm, a helicopter is still circling the area. The suspect is still at large. Two other helicopters were searching earlier in the hour.

Local residents know the area to be higher in crimes. As of this writing, the helicopter is searching around South Bedford and Cadillac Ave.

Los Angeles Police Department’s Air Support Division includes 88 officers and 19 helicopters. The choppers include two JetRangers, ten Eurocopter AStars, four Airbus H125 , one Bell 412, and one Beechcraft King Air 200 twin-engine, according to Wikipedia.

How did the suspect go missing on foot? Did they know where they were going? There are a number of possibilities. Perhaps it’s getting foggy in Los Angeles tonight.
