Suspects barricaded in business, surrounded by police

In the morning of April 13, on Vermont and Imperial Avenue in Los Angeles, police officers were greeted by a suspect with his hands up. He emerged from a seemingly abandoned building next to a Mobil gas station.

The individual was promptly arrested.

Police had received a report that a group of five armed men had stolen a 2008 gray BMW. It was also reported that these individuals were in hiding.

The business appeared closed, but local residents have stated it is a retail business.

Police continued to wait at the building. A woman wearing a red dress, looking confused, stepped out of the building. She was arrested, and so was a third suspect.

Police continued to wait at the building. They confirmed that additional suspects were armed and were still inside the store. Bystanders were asked not to stand so close to the police officers and the scene.

The scene was shortly followed by a helicopter overhead and more police backup approaching from both directions. Traffic was blocked off by the train station. Cars were not permitted to pass.

At least three more suspects were arrested after leaving the building.

Police with shields then entered the building.

At last report, there were possibly two more armed suspects inside the building.

The outcome of this arrest involving close to twenty police vehicles is unknown.
