Tenderloin shooting leaves one dead, two hospitalized

According to a Citizen report, local police, and residents, one person was killed and two others were hospitalized after a shooting in the Tenderloin Thursday evening.

Just before 5 pm, police responded to a report of a shooting at Mason Street and Market street near 6th Street.

Three people had sustained gunshot wounds.

According to a report from KPIX, one of the victims was pronounced deceased at the scene while the other two victims were transported to an area hospital.

Two suspects may have fled into the Powell Street BART station.

Police continued canvassing for the suspects and ask that anyone present during the incident who know anything about the shooting to connect with the police.

Eventually police recovered the weapon and have one suspect in custody.

Locals reported hearing many shots fired in the area.

Homicides in the Tenderloin

San Francisco’s first homicide of 2021 took place on January 8 in the Tenderloin. Previous homicides took place in the Tenderloin in August and October of 2020.
