Woman injured after silver Honda Civic overturned in East Oakland

Shortly before 7 am on Memorial Day an overturned vehicle with injuries was reported at 82nd Avenue and International Boulevard in East Oakland, then more specifically at 8135 International Boulevard.

Police arrived on the scene minutes later, as did firefighters.

Firefighters confirmed there was no one trapped in the car.

Police advised that a woman sustained an arm injury after her silver four-door Honda Civic turned on its side in the street.

The woman crawled out of the window of the vehicle after it flipped over, according to a firefighter.

Police officers shut down traffic on the roadway near the crash site as the Honda Civic was laying in the middle of the street.

A police officer stated the Honda destroyed a PG&E wire when it rolled over, creating further issues in the area.

The cause of the car flipping is currently unknown. This intersection was previously a stop sign only intersection.

The woman's status regarding her injuries is also unknown.

Traffic Management in East Oakland

According to Oakland Wiki, there are traffic management cameras at the following intersections along International Boulevard:

• International and 22nd Ave
• International and 42nd Ave
• International and 73rd Ave
• International and 98th Ave

Cities like London and New York that have adopted a high ratio of cameras to residents have not experienced a drop in crime as a result. However, according to the ACLU in testimony before the Oakland City Council, minority populations have shown to be many times more likely to be surveilled and targeted as a result of the cameras
