Shortly after 3 am on Monday after the 4th of July, a residential fire was reported at 1674 Kirkwood Ave in Bayview.

Firefighters arrived on scene shortly after and advised that they were battling an active fire inside a residence.

According to the SF News, the San Francisco Fire Department responded to over five fires on the night of July 4.

The SFFD responded to at least five outside fires including the residential fire on Kirkwood Avenue, 19th and Bryant Streets, 19th and York Streets, 20th, and Irving Streets, and 22nd and Harrison Streets.

The SFFD reported via Twitter that these fires and multiple others that occurred on the night of July 4 have been extinguished. No injuries have been reported as a result of these fires.

The situation quickly developed as firefighters had to extend hoses to the first and second floors to battle two fires.

Police presence was requested to the scene to aid in restricting traffic in the area. In response, police blocked traffic on Newhall St and 3rd St.

Close to 3:30 am, firefighters responded that the first and second fires were under control.

Firefighters requested assistance for eight displaced residents as a result of the fire.

According to police, the fire may have started from fireworks that landed on and ignited the roof of the garage.

A total of 13 residents were displaced as a result of the fire.

The Red Cross has been notified of the incident and asked to aid those displaced by the blaze.
