Vehicle Crash Ends in Rescue From Pond
At approximately 1:20 am Tuesday, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single-vehicle incident at Highway 218 northbound and 320th St Crawfordsville. A vehicle driven by 25-year-old Brenna Burlingame left the roadway through a field and entered a pond, where it became fully submerged, Burlingame was pulled from the vehicle by a passerby and sustained minor injuries. Burlingame was assessed at the scene and arrested for operating while intoxicated first offense. Assisting the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was the Washington County Ambulance Service and Crawfordsville Fire and EMS Rescue.
Brighton Woman Arrested On Multiple Washington Warrants
On Thursday, a Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy was at the Washington County Courthouse in Washington, with a suspect wanted on six Washington County warrants. They arrested 47-year-old Jennifer Hauser of Brighton on two warrants for pretrial release revocation on the original charge of third-degree theft, both class C felonies. One warrant for possession of contraband in a correctional institution, a class C felony. One warrant for pretrial release revocation on two counts of possession, third or subsequent offense, a class D felony. And two warrants for pretrial release revocation on the original charge of OWI first offense, a serious misdemeanor. Hauser was transported to the Washington County Jail, where she will be held without bond.
Amber Alert with Happy Ending
You likely received an Amber Alert on your phone Tuesday evening regarding a missing 15 year old girl from Nichols, Iowa. The Amber Alert was canceled about an hour after it was issued as the girl was found safe. The initial alert indicated that a 42 year old woman, later identified as Lindsey White, had abducted the girl, Ophelia Barton, in a blue 2014 Jeep Compass. The alert was issued at 7:04 p.m. and was canceled at 8:09 p.m.
Washington Woman Saved From Drowning Vehicle by Passerby
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a single vehicle accident with unknown injuries around 1:20am on June 11th. Upon arrival at Highway 218 NB & 320th St Crawfordsville, IA, deputies soon found a vehicle submerged to the door. The operator, Brenna Burlingame of Washington, was pulled from the drowning vehicle by a passerby.
Lone Tree man arrested for assault on woman and child trying to defend her
A Lone Tree man was arrested Sunday evening after an alleged assault at his Sioux Avenue residence. According to the arrest report, 42-year-old Christopher Walmsley got into an argument with the victim that escalated into a physical assault. He allegedly used his body to push the woman around and punched her in the side of the head.

Man charged in dog neglect case sentenced to probation
RIVERSIDE, Iowa (KCRG) - A former commercial dog breeding facility owner has pled guilty in connection to an animal neglect case from last year. In August 2023, Iowa City Animal Services assisted law enforcement with taking in 131 dogs as they investigated animal welfare concerns in the 3000 block of 540th Street SW in Riverside. Experts say physical exams showed that the dogs had developed conditions caused by failure of adequate care.

Lone Tree woman who recently had license revoked charged with OWI and Child Endangerment
A Lone Tree woman who just had her license revoked last month was reportedly caught driving while intoxicated. 35-year-old Katie Bachman was called in for being intoxicated and was stopped on the 600 block of Eastbury Drive at approximately 3:15 Thursday afternoon. Upon contact, she allegedly admitted to drinking and had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and impaired balance. After showing measurable signs of intoxication, a PBT showed her breath-alcohol level at .171 percent; a subsequent Datamaster measured it at .194 percent.
