Silver Creek Man Charged After Threatening People with Knife
A Silver Creek man was arrested after he had threatened other people with a knife. On Saturday around 12:45am, officers with the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a disorderly subject in the road. Officers located 33-year-old Joshua Adams upon arrival, and it was later determined that Adams had allegedly engaged in a physical altercation with others, which resulted in him leaving the area and arming himself with a knife. He had also allegedly raised the knife and threatened the lives of the other people at the location. Adams was taken into custody without incident and is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, 2nd degree menacing, 2nd degree aggravated harassment, and 2nd degree harassment. He will appear in the Town of Hanover court at a later date.

Diocese of Buffalo Delaying Final Decision on Proposed Parish Closings and Mergers
The Diocese of Buffalo needs more time to reach a final decision on its proposals to close and merge several of its parishes across Western New York. In a statement issued Friday afternoon, Bishop Michael Fisher said that final announcements "will not be made on September 1, but will be coming later next week or early the following week." He says the diocese is evaluating changes to its initial recommendation after 52 counter proposals were made to a diocesan review committee. In June, the diocese revealed a list of 12 proposed mergers and closures in Chautauqua County.
Jamestown Woman Arrested After Driving with 26 License Suspensions
A Jamestown woman was arrested after she was found to have been driving with a license that was suspended over 20 times. On Thursday around 2:30am, Jamestown Police officers observed a vehicle on North Main St. traveling without lights. Officers conducted a traffic stop on W. 10th St. and found that the vehicle operator, 31-year-old Sienna Swanson, was allegedly operating the vehicle after her license was previously suspended 26 times stemming from 10 different incidents, where she received uniform traffic tickets that were not answered for. Swanson was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where she was charged with 1st degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. She has since been released with appearance tickets.

A City of Jamestown resident is accusing the City for targeting him after his property received multiple housing code violations. Eighth Street resident Tom Andolora, speaking at City Council Monday, claimed Mayor Kim Ecklund and Director of Development Crystal Surdyk are targeting people who are speaking out against the City, “I know because I feel they are targeting my home. My family has owned it, and taken good care of it and paid taxes on it every year since 1955. Two weeks ago I received a letter in the mail with a pile of violations on my property. In 75 years, we never received a single violation. Now, because I’ve spoken out against the Mayor and the DOD, I have a list of violations that I have 10 days to resolve.”

Garbage and recycling will not be collected on that day. Due to the holiday, Monday’s regular garbage and recycling collection will be delayed until Tuesday, September 3. In the same way, Tuesday’s collection will be delayed until Wednesday; Wednesday’s collection will be moved to Thursday; Thursday’s collection will be moved to Friday; and Friday’s collection will be moved to Saturday, September 7.
