140 Build Dakota Scholarship recipients sign for their futures at Western Dakota Tech
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - 140 students signed their commitments to join the Build Dakota Scholarships program, attending Western Dakota Technical College with tuition paid for by sponsoring companies. After graduating in two years, these students will go on to work for those companies, filling high-demand jobs and remaining in the state of South Dakota for the first few years of their careers.
First Alert Weather Day Friday: Severe Storms Possible Later
FRIDAY NIGHT: A line of storms brought hail and wind reports to East-Central ND and central MN between 6 PM and 12 AM Friday night, which caused some problems. We even had a couple of tornado warnings that finally went away after 11 PM. So it was an active night. Thankfully, the storms pushed out of our region after midnight, and thereafter, scattered showers moved out of our region before 7 AM, leaving behind morning lows in the 50s and mostly cloudy skies. Overall, Saturday morning will be mild and much better than Friday night.

Data Shows State, SFSD Didn’t Meet Special Ed Grad Targets
(Sioux Falls, SD) — The state and Sioux Falls School District’s graduation rates for special education students are not meeting preset targets. Data released by the South Dakota Department of Education from the 2022-23 school year shows the state’s graduation rate was about three-and-three-quarters-percent lower than the goal of 68-point-45 percent. The Sioux Falls School District’s graduation rate was much lower at 56-point-14 percent. DOE spokeswoman Linda Turner told the Argus Leader that graduation and dropout rates were significantly impacted by the pandemic.
