Eva Marcille has never been one to shy away from a challenge, and her latest project, “Buried Alive”, is no exception. Part of Lifetime’s “Ripped from the Headlines” series, the film is based on true, untold stories that hit a little too close to home. Specifically, it highlights the untold stories of Black women, the ones we rarely see splashed across breaking news segments.

Eva explained that this role was more than just acting for her—it was personal. “While filming, I kept thinking about what the real woman who went through this had to endure,” she reflected. In the movie, Eva does her own stunts, including being literally buried alive. “No body double. It was all me. Luckily, I had my best friend Rob, who called ‘cut’ in those tougher moments, to make sure I didn’t really die!” That’s not the type of support you hear about every day on set.

For Eva, this role wasn’t just another gig—it was a calling. Having experienced her own version of domestic violence (DV), this film allowed her to channel those emotions into something cathartic. “It wasn’t just a character for me. This was real life, in more ways than one,” she said, pausing to reflect on the personal journey that paralleled her character’s plight.

Beyond the personal, Eva believes this type of storytelling can make a difference for women watching. “Movies like this help women speak out. They let women know that these things can happen to them—and if they do, they’re not alone.” Eva knows firsthand the tricky navigation between love and pain. “You’ll find yourself in love before you find yourself in pain,” she said, her voice layered with both wisdom and empathy.

Eva’s journey hasn’t been without its detours, but she’s always found her way back to what she does best: making an impact. “My longevity comes from living in my purpose,” she said, attributing much of her strength to her faith and her ability to stay true to herself.

When asked if a show like “America’s Next Top Model” would resonate today, Eva said she believed it would, noting how it gave “a girl 5’7 from the hood” a platform. And when it comes to Tyra Banks, there’s no one Eva holds in higher regard. “Tyra is like my mom! Y’all cannot say anything bad about her. She has single-handedly changed lives.”

While Eva has conquered the worlds of modeling and acting, she’s also navigated the ups and downs of life in the spotlight. Fresh off a public divorce, Eva isn’t looking for love—she’s looking to do something even more important: focus on herself. “There’s life after divorce. I thought I was merely existing, but now I know to look towards that sun ray. And if you can’t find it, be it.”

Eva also shed light on the highs and lows of reality television. “The hardest part about reality TV is that it can get nasty,” she admitted, reflecting on her own experiences. But when it comes to her first love—modeling—it’s all about those special moments of stepping out in front of the camera. “My favorite thing about modeling is popping out!” she said with a laugh, adding a bit of her signature charm.

And, of course, no modern-day interview is complete without a quick foray into the world of social media. “Lorel had to teach me about DMs,” Eva joked. It’s nice to know that even someone as poised and polished as Eva Marcille is still learning the ropes of the digital world.

Finally, Eva gave a shout-out to Tyler Perry, calling him “the GOAT.” She had some advice for anyone not happy with his work: “If you don’t like what he’s doing, change the channel. But you can’t deny he takes care of his people.”

At the end of the day, she’s here to make an impact, and she’s living her purpose—both on screen and off. Whether through storytelling, her own life experiences, or simply being herself, Eva Marcille continues to inspire and empower those around her, one bold move at a time.
