It was based on a <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20110615054012/http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/5870326-418/the-big-catch-355-pounder-going-182-mph.html">Chicago Sun-Times</a> report of an incident that took place at 11:30am on May 23, 2010.The man who received this record ticket was 39-year-old Rodney Jones who the report says weighed 355 pounds and was riding a <a href="https://suzukicycles.com/sportbike/2022/hayabusa">Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle</a>. On I-294, Rodney was clocked going 182 mph in a 55 mph zone. The motorcycle Rodney was caught speeding on is equipped with 1340cc, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, 4-cylinder, DOHC and is capable of a top speed of around 192 mph according to <a href="https://www.bikesure.co.uk/bikesureblog/2024/01/suzuki-hayabusa-fastest-bike/">Bikesure</a>.I have driven on the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autobahn">Autobahn</a>, but that was around 30 years ago. Despite what you might have heard, there ARE speed limits there, but only near cities. The open highway is the wild frontier where you'll see some of the fastest speeds anywhere in the world. I remember going around 125 mph in the passing lane and saw a quick flash of headlights behind me. I quickly moved over and less than a second or two later, a Lamborghini flew by me like I was standing still. When I finally took an exit, I thought I had slowed down plenty, but found out I was still going almost 55 and nearly slid through the stop sign for the next road. It was terrifying.Thinking about what this Illinois bike rider did back in 2010 scares the living daylights out of me. Just one tiny mistake and he would have been done for. Fortunately for him, he lived to tell about it and only got a $375 fine and was required to buy high-risk insurance.</div></body>
