Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones is reportedly expected to play in Sunday's (October 20) game against the NFC North Division rival Detroit Lions at U.S. Bank Stadium, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN 's Adam Schefter on Saturday (October 19).

Jones, 29, who is listed as questionable due to a hamstring injury, was a limited participant in practice on Thursday (October 17) and Friday (October 18) and Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell was noncommittal when discussing the running back's availability for Week 7.

"Vikings RB Aaron Jones, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a hamstring injury, is expected to play vs. the Lions, per source," Schefter wrote on his X account.

Jones initially felt tightness in his right hip during pregame warmups for the Vikings' Week 5 win against the New York Jets in London, which he said loosened prior to kickoff before re-tightening after a 23-yard pass from backup quarterback Nick Mullens in the first quarter.

"That play really kind of did it," Jones said while discussing his injury via ESPN .

The veteran running back had two more rushing attempts before being pulled from the game. Jones, who signed with the Vikings as a free agent this past offseason after spending his entire career with the NFC North Division rival Green Bay Packers , recorded 350 yards and one touchdown on 71 rushing attempts, as well as 17 receptions for 167 yards and one touchdown in five games.
