NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A 33-year-old man died after a dispute on a Bronx 2 train Saturday afternoon led to him getting stabbed, and police have arrested the alleged perpetrator.

Shane Cunnison, of Brooklyn, was arrested at about 9:30 p.m. on Saturday evening in the Bronx, not far from where the stabbing took place, police said. The 37-year-old is charged with first-degree manslaughter.

It happened aboard a northbound 2 train that was approaching the Third Avenue–149th Street subway station in the South Bronx just before 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, authorities said.

Cunnison and 33-year-old Nigel Dumas got into a verbal argument that escalated to physical violence, police said.

It was not immediately clear what the fight was about, or if the men knew one another.

Cunnison is accused of pulling out a knife and stabbing Dumas, of the Soundview section of the Bronx, in the chest.

Dumas was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln in critical condition, but did not survive.
