NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A Rikers Island correction officer faces a string of charges after he allegedly lured a woman to his Queens apartment with an acting job and then raped and imprisoned her.

Anthony Martin, 32, was indicted by a grand jury and arraigned Monday on charges of rape, sexual abuse and unlawful imprisonment in connection with the alleged attack on March 26 at his home in Springfield Gardens.

According to the Queens D.A.’s Office, Martin contacted the 20-year-old victim on social media and invited her to his home while pretending to be a TV producer and director who was casting for a new show.

The victim arrived at Martin’s home on 161st Street expecting to meet other producers and prospective cast members. Instead, she only found Martin, who began touching her leg, prosecutors said.

As she tried to leave, he blocked her exit, pulled down her pants and raped and sexually assaulted her, according to the indictment.

After he eventually let her leave his home, she contacted police and sought medical attention, prosecutors said.

“It does highlight the dangers that people have on social media,” Queens D.A. Melinda Katz said Monday. “You don’t know who you’re talking to, you have no idea what you’re walking into.”

Martin was ordered to return to court on Oct. 18. He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.

A Department of Correction spokesperson said Martin was suspended on the day of his arrest in April.

Why on earth would you go to a stranger's home. You're lucky he didn't kill you.
