LAURENCE HARBOR, N.J. (1010 WINS) – Two men suffered burns and blast injuries when a boat exploded at a marina in New Jersey on Wednesday, police said.

The boat exploded shortly after 3:15 p.m. at Raritan Marina in Laurence Harbor in Middlesex County.

A 57-year-old Old Bridge man was "launched into the water" by the explosion, according to police in Old Bridge Township.

He was pulled from the water by bystanders and then airlifted to Robertwood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick to be treated for burns to his face and legs.

A 47-year-old South Amboy man suffered “blast injuries” from glass to his stomach and arms. Police said he was transported to Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation but doesn’t appear to be suspicious, police said.

The marina was closed Wednesday for the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Old Bridge Police Department at (732) 721-5600.
