WAYNE, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey 16-year-old is facing multiple charges after he allegedly shot two other teens at a high school football game in Wayne, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office announced Saturday.

Prosecutors said that the gunman is charged with acts of juvenile delinquency equivalent to first-degree attempted murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

The shooting took place at about 7:30 p.m. on Friday after a football game at the Passaic County Technical Institute. Shots rang out and two teens, ages 15 and 16, were struck.

Officials said that the following investigation led to the 16-year-old suspect being taken into custody and subsequently charged, and sources told 1010 WINS that a gun was recovered from the scene.

The case has been referred to the Passaic County Family Court for further proceedings, prosecutors said.
