    FDNY adds 32 more names to its WTC Memorial Wall, as deaths from 9/11-related illnesses​ continue

    NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – The FDNY will honor 32 members who died from 9/11-related illnesses by adding their names to the FDNY World Trade Center Memorial Wall.

    A ceremony will be held in Brooklyn on Wednesday to mark the occasion.​

    Since the 9/11 attacks, more than 360 FDNY members have lost their lives to World Trade Center-related illnesses. The ceremony takes place each year as a reminder of the lasting impacts of the recovery efforts on first responders, according to a FDNY press release.

    The 32 members being honored include firefighters, paramedics, and electricians, whose names will be inscribed on the Memorial Wall.

    The outdoor ceremony will start at 4 p.m. at FDNY Headquarters, located at 9 MetroTech Center and will also be live-streamed on the FDNY website at www.nyc.gov/FDNY .

    The inscription on the Memorial Wall reads: “Dedicated to the memory of those who bravely served this department protecting life and property in the City of New York in the rescue and recovery effort at Manhattan Box 5-5-8087 World Trade Center.”
