2 men shot in Crown Heights, 1 critical: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Two men were shot in Brooklyn on Wednesday, one of which is in critical condition, police said.

The men were struck at about 3:20 p.m. when shots rang out as they stood in front of the Park Place Deli at 539 Park Pl. in Crown Heights.

A 31-year-old man was shot in the head and taken to an area hospital in critical condition, police said. The second victim, 33, was shot in the leg.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately clear.

The shooting site is situated across the street from an NYC Schools campus, and happened one day before public school classes resume after summer break. It follows an earlier shooting on Wednesday during which a bullet flew through a middle school window in the Bronx, striking a teacher in the hand.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
