NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Two men were charged on Thursday following an investigation into an armed robbery that led to a chase and shooting in July in New Jersey, prosecutors said.

Jaquil Brown, 29, and Shaheem Clark, 19, were arrested, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced.

According to court documents, on July 21, the Lodi Police Department and the New Jersey State Police responded to an armed robbery and shooting that began in a parking lot on Route 17 in Lodi and ended on Route 80 in Paterson.

Responding officers found that as a group of friends exited a business on Route 17 and got into their car, a male suspect suddenly opened the door and pointed a gun at one of the victims. The suspect demanded an expensive wristwatch, struck the victim in the head with the gun, and forcibly removed the watch from the victim’s wrist before fleeing in a getaway car driven by a second suspect.

The victims followed the suspects onto Route 17 and then onto Route 80. While on Route 80 in Paterson, the front passenger of the suspects’ vehicle leaned out the window and fired two gunshots at the victims. One of the shots struck the victims’ windshield, injuring the driver with glass.

The victims pulled over on Route 80 West in Paterson and called 911, while the suspects fled the scene.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad was notified and responded to the scene. During the investigation, the suspects’ getaway car was found in Paterson, and officers gathered information leading to the arrests of Brown and Clark.

Authorities determined that Brown was allegedly the driver, and Clark was the suspect involved in the armed robbery and shooting.

As a result of the investigation, Brown was arrested on July 25 and charged with first-degree armed robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and receiving stolen property.

On Aug. 28, detectives learned that Clark was already in custody at the Hudson County Jail on an unrelated charge. He was charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

So instead of calling the cops while following them, they wait to get shot at first then call. The brain of some people.
