RONKONKOMA, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A Long Island woman was arrested and charged after crashing into a marked police vehicle in Ronkonkoma on Saturday evening, and was additionally charged after she was identified as the robber in a holdup at a local Chase Bank the day before, according to Suffolk County Police.

Nina Cahill, 41, is charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of stolen property in relation to the incident on Saturday, as well as third-degree robbery in the Chase Bank crime.

Officers located a 2007 Toyota Corolla that had previously been reported stolen parked at Patchogue-Holbrook Road in Holbrook at about 7:25 p.m. on Saturday with Cahill inside.

She saw police approaching, backed out of the parking space and into a police car before driving onto the Long Island Expressway from the westbound Exit 61.

Police said that Cahill drove recklessly, exiting and reentering the expressway while continuously driving the wrong direction.

Eventually, after she had gotten back onto the LIE from an exit ramp and was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes, she was spotted by a Highway Patrol officer driving westbound.

The officer saw the Toyota approaching, activated his vehicle’s lights and sirens, and slowed down as the Toyota crashed into his head-on between exits 58 and 59, authorities said.

Cahill jumped out of the car and tried to flee on foot, but the officer quickly put her under arrest. The arrest occurred at about 8:05 p.m., approximately 40 minutes after she had first been spotted.

Once in custody, Cahill was connected to a bank robbery at a Chase Bank in Selden that happened at 4:47 p.m. on Friday, and was charged.

In that case, the suspect is accused of entering the bank wearing a surgical mask and presenting the bank teller with a note demanding money, before fleeing on foot with the cash. It was not clear how much money she made off with.

Cahill, of Holtsville, was scheduled to be arraigned in Central Islip on Sunday.

I guess she figured she would be out the same day with these laws she might but Suffolk don’t play games like the city. Crime will continue to spiral out of control until you elect better leaders from the lowest level up to the top. Wake up
