NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A hit-and-run driver struck and killed a 74-year-old man as he crossed a Brooklyn street on Wednesday night, police said.

The victim was crossing Ridge Boulevard at Bay Ridge Avenue in Bay Ridge just before 9 p.m. when he was mowed down by the driver of a white SUV, according to the NYPD.

The driver was headed northbound on Ridge Boulevard at the time and didn’t stop after striking the man, who was in the crosswalk when he was hit, police said.

The victim was pronounced dead at NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn.

No arrests had been reported by Thursday as the investigation continued.

All i'm saying is, STOP STANDING IN THE STREETS WHEN WAITING TO CROSS, AND WHEN CROSSING, PAY ATTENTION BY LOOKING LEFT AND RIGHT WHILE WALKING. YOU PEDESTRIANS ARE NOT IN YOUR BEDROOM, BUT IN THE STREET WITH CARS DRIVING BY!
