NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A 62-year-old woman was recovering at a hospital Thursday after she was shoved onto Brooklyn subway tracks Wednesday evening by a man who asked her for “a light” for his cigarette, police and sources said.

The victim was at the Jefferson Street station on the L line in Bushwick shortly before 6 p.m. when the man made the request, which she declined, according to sources.

The man reacted by pushing her onto the tracks, the sources said.

Good Samaritans rushed to help the woman back onto the platform, according to police.

She was taken to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where she was in stable condition Thursday.

It appears no train was entering into the station at the time she was shoved.

The man ran to the street and remained at large Thursday.
