VIDEO: Woman wanted for robbing 7-year-old boy at Bronx fruit store, punching his mom

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police are searching for a woman who robbed a 7-year-old boy and punched his mother in the face at a fruit store in the Bronx.

The NYPD released video Friday showing the suspect grabbing cash from the boy at Richard’s Fruit and Vegetables on Jerome Avenue in Mt. Eden on Sept. 24.

The boy was attempting to pay for fruit around 11:40 a.m. that Tuesday when the woman snatched the cash right out of his hands and fled, police said.

Video shows her standing at the door of the business and apparently encouraging him to hand over the money before ultimately ripping it away from him.

When the boy’s 38-year-old mom attempted to stop her, she punched her in the face, police said.

The suspect was last seen fleeing northbound on Jerome Avenue toward East 170 ^th Street, according to the NYPD.

The mom was treated for her injuries at the scene, while the boy was not physically hurt.
