And it's been a rating success for 13 years.</p><p>After 13 years of huge ratings, the National Geographic Channel (<i>now owned by Disney</i>) announced they will not renew the show set in Gloucester in Cape Ann, Massachusetts.</p><p>In a statement partially published in a <a href="https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/wicked-tuna-canceled-season-13-national-geographic-1236109071/">Variety</a> article, the networks gave no reason when saying goodbye,</p><blockquote><p>As we reflect on 13 great seasons and 200+ episodes, our appreciation for our production partners at Pilgrim Media Group, our cast and crew, the Gloucester community and the show’s dedicated fans is hard to put into words. It has been an incredible journey together and there are only two words that seem to fit the moment: Thank You.</p></blockquote><p>Captain Dave Marciano, one of the saltier stars on the show told the <a href="https://www.bostonglobe.com/2024/08/31/metro/wicked-tuna-canceled-national-geographic/?s_campaign=breakingnews:newsletter">Boston Globe</a> that it made no sense. All he could think was that it was because Disney now owned the network and that maybe it was a little too spicy for them.</p><h2>Gloucester, Massachusetts, is grateful for the opportunity</h2><p>The tourism boom the Cape Ann area saw was very appreciated. It started with the book and movie, "The Perfect Storm," and continued with "Wicked Tuna." Dave Marciano, the captain of Hard Merchandise Too told the <a href="https://www.bostonglobe.com/2024/08/31/metro/wicked-tuna-canceled-national-geographic/?s_campaign=breakingnews:newsletter">Globe</a>,</p><blockquote><p>I’m just a crazy fisherman like so many others in Gloucester, and I was handed the opportunity of a lifetime.</p></blockquote><p>Don't despair 'Wicked Tuna' fans...</p><p>Since the show is being canceled with high ratings, and it remains a very popular subject, some think that this could be picked up by another network.
