Upstate man dead and another person injured after WNC shooting

A Western North Carolina shooting ends in the death of an Upstate man. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of gunfire at the Ashley Meadows Apartments in Columbus just after 1pm, Thursday.

One person was found dead and another injured on the scene. The injured individual was taken to the hospital. The identity of the deceased has not been released, bit officials say the man from Landrum County.

Authorities say a suspect was taken into custody and that the shooting seemed to be an isolated incident stemming from a dispute involving multiple individuals. The investigation is still ongoing.
