A lawsuit filed by two families claims their children were sexually assaulted by other students at a Spartanburg County elementary school, and that it happened more than once.

The attorney for the two parents says the first incident occurred at Shoally Creek Elementary at Boiling Springs in November of 2021, it involved several students and happened several times despite the presence of the regular classroom teacher and substitutes, at other times.

School district officials say they can't comment on the case because of the litigation. The lawyer for the parents Tyler Rody, says "they're trying to minimize what happened, saying it is not sexual. He also says that the abuse worsened after the first incident and was reported to the school administrators.

School board member Matthew Schubeck is publicly calling for District Two Superintendent Lance Redford to step down. He said that if he genuinely cares "Then I believe he should offer a resignation."

No trial date has been set as of this time, but the attorney expects it will be in early September.
