A suspect is in custody after a pipe bomb was found inside a vehicle at an Upstate gas station. The Anderson Police Department responded for a wellness check at the QT station on Whitehall Road around 330 PM, Monday.

Upon arrival, officers encountered the suspect 39 year old, James Turner who was found to be in possession of drugs and counterfeit money. Upon a further search of Turner's vehicle officers found bomb like materials. The Anderson County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad was then called to the scene.

Traffic on Whitehall Road and North Main Street was shut down for public safety reasons. Bomb technicians were able to safely remove the pipe bomb from Turner's car. A subsequent search of Turner's home turned up more counterfeit money and currency printers.

The Secret Service and ATF have both been called into investigate. Turner is charged with possession of a bomb and additional charges are expected. A booking photo of the suspect is below.
