Man dies after being assaulted in Downtown Greenville

A man is dead after being assaulted in Downtown Greenville. Police responded to North Main Street in front of City Tavern around 2AM, Wednesday. Upon arrival, they found a man unconscious. He had been punched and fell and hit his head on the sidewalk.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he died the following day. The Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 45 year old, Jason Michael Haynie.

The suspect William Brandon Sanders was taken into custody Thursday by the U.S. Marshals. He's charged with voluntary manslaughter after police say the incident was captured on surveillance video.
