    Nearly two dozen storm deaths across South Carolina

    South Carolina officials are reporting nearly two dozen deaths so far across South Carolina after Tropical Storm Helene ravaged the state.

    Four deaths have been reported in Greenville County from falling trees and branches, identified by the coroner as 56-year-old Londer Lee Palmer, 59-year-old Charles Daly Dean III, 40-year-old Aaron Marshall Lance, and 68-year-old Moreno Arnez Maddox.

    In Spartanburg County, five deaths were reported, one of which being identified by the coroner as Anna Maria Smith. Two were reported to have died from falling trees, while another was swept away while attempting to cross a flooded river.

    Anderson County saw two deaths, identified by the coroner as 55-year-old Christine Schmeiske and 54-year-old Sandy Lee Fisher. Both died from trees falling on their homes.

    Laurens County also saw two deaths from falling trees, and one unspecified death was reported from Greenwood County.
