    WNC Donations and Dog Food

    UPDATE 10/10/24:
    Buncombe County Government held a community briefing this morning, sharing 36,000 customers remain without power in Buncombe County.

    Avril Pinder, County Manager, said as cooler temperatures move in, shelters remain open for those without power.  Those Asheville shelters locations are:

    -The AB Tech Conference Center on 16 Fernihurst Dr. Asheville

    - The former Gold's Gym at 1815 Hendersonville Rd. Asheville - a good option for families with children

    -The WNC Agricultural Center on Fanning Bridge Road in Fletcher - a good option for families with pets

    A Medical Emergency Shelter remains open at 10 Genevieve Circle in Asheville.

    Buncombe County Government
    The community care station in Swannanoa has opened to the public from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Here, community members can shower, do laundry, use the bathroom, access cell towers and wifi, get potable and non-potable water, get hot meals between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., and access counseling. If you have shower shoes, towels, and toiletries, please bring them with you when you come. If you don’t, no problem, they will be provided for you.

    3. Community of Emma 528 Emma Street, Asheville with Spanish language speakers

    4. New Bridge Baptist Church, 199 Elkwood Ave, Asheville, NC– Woodfin/AVL

    5. 800 Fairview Road, Asheville, NC

    6. Beech Community Center, 15 State Hwy 2117, Weaverville, NC

    7. Swannanoa - 503 Park Street, Swannanoa, NC

    8. Walmart -60 Airport Road, Arden, NC

    9. Riceville Community Church, 2251, 2342 Riceville Road, Asheville, NC.

    10. North Star Academy, 90 Montford Avenue, Asheville, NC **9:00am to 2:00pm**

    Food and Water:
    Buncombe County Government

    New Bridge Baptist Church located at 199 Elkwood Ave. continues to serve as the main hub for much of Woodfin, and operates daily: water is available 10 am – 5 pm, and food/ice/and other goods are available from 3-5 pm.

    From New Bridge, Woodfin staff and volunteers continue to shuttle hot food, water, and other supplies over to Victory Baptist Church, located at 80 Olivette Rd. on the west side of the French Broad River. Victory Baptist has now expanded their hours and are open from 12-6, M-Saturday.

    Previously reported: As donations continue to pour in, Buncombe County Government is asking everyone to consider donating coats, blankets, gloves/mittens, and other cold weather items for WNC Helene survivors.

    Donation drop off locations include:
    - 1298 Patton Avenue in West Asheville
    - Arden Presbyterian Church at 2215 Hendersonville Road in Asheville
    - Harrah's Cherokee Center - 87 Haywood Street, at the front door - 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., seven days a week.
    - 6 Commerce Way, Arden

    Pet Food:
    A new FREE pet food distribution site has opened up in south Asheville. Underdog, located at 1156 Sweeten Creek Road, is distributing pet food from 10a-4p Monday through Friday.

    Other free pet food distribution sites include:
    - Unete in Emma
    - River Ridge Shopping Center (behind the C1 suite)
    - MANNA Food Bank/WNC Farmer's Market
    - Asheville Humane Society (14 Forever Friend Lane)
