    Upstate Sheriff speaks on disaster relief experience in WNC

    Anderson County Sheriff Chad McBride joined Straight Talk with Bill , Wednesday. The Sheriff's Office sent a team of Deputies to Western North Carolina to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

    While Sheriff McBride stayed to hold the fort down in Anderson County, he relayed a report he received from his team. McBride said "Our guys did search and rescue, wellness check, all that stuff. There was one FEMA dude on the ground. He sat in his truck the whole time, deer in the headlights look the whole time, he didn't know what to do".

    McBride then elaborated on reports of what was going on at the time elsewhere in the area. McBride said "Meanwhile, the National Guard was staging folks for six days in Buncombe County. They sat at the same camp in Buncombe County for six days with no orders. That is a Governor issue.

    Sheriff Chad McBride is a Texas native, and military veteran with two decades of law enforcement experience.
