Killer Roommate Sentenced in 2021 Stabbing Death

The 13th Circuit Solicitor's Office said 24 year old Russell Wydell Gilliam Jr. pled guilty to murder last month, on September 26, 2024.

Back in April of 2021, Gilliam and Octravious Jones, the victim, shared a home together in Greenville County. After missing for a week, Deputies were called to the home after family members believed they found Jones' body in the wood line of the property.

Gilliam admitted to stabbing Jones multiple times with a knife, and disclosed to Investigators the location where it was discarded.

Gilliam was sentenced to 30 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
