    Buncombe County NC Briefing

    Briefing from Monday, October 14, 2024:
    According to Buncombe County North Carolina Government, "6,000 customers remain without power as of this (Monday) morning" due to Hurricane Helene which struck at the end of September.

    Avril Pinder, County Manager, reported cable and internet provider, Spectrum, said  37,500 customers are still experiencing an outage. That is a little less than half of what the initial outage numbers were.

    The curfew within Asheville city limits will continue, which begins at 11pm and ends at 6am.

    Food and Water Distribution sites are still active at many locations throughout WNC.

    October 14 - 16, 2024, FEMA will be on site at many locations throughout WNC from 9a-5p. Black Mountain Ingles, the Swannanoa Conference Center, the French Broad River Fire Department in Asheville, the Swannanoa Library, Food Lion in Fairview, Emma Community Center, Barnersville Community Center, New Bridge Baptist Church in Woodfin, Nesbitt Chapel Church in Fairview and the Broad River Volunteer Fire Department on Broad River Road.
