U.S. Transportation Secretary set to visit WNC

Pete Buttigieg, the U.S. Transportation Secretary is slated to visit Western North Carolina, Thursday. Buttigieg is expected to meet with North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper and NCDOT officials to assess the reconstruction efforts following Hurricane Helene.

The U.S. Department of Transportation say they are providing the NCDOT with 100 million dollars in emergency relief funds. Buttigieg is also expected to visit areas of East Tennessee that were impacted by Helene.
