BMitch and Finlay were in Miami for the Commanders’ joint practice Thursday and got a surprise visit from one of the newest Commanders: Jeremy Chinn, who will play a hybrid role as a safety/linebacker in the defense.

And yeah, after now two joint practices and one preseason game, he’s feeling ready to go, especially after getting some different personnel looks against a dynamic Miami offense today.

“It’s always nice going against somebody else, a different team; you're going against your own teammates since OTAs, so it's always good working these joint practices,” Chinn said. “It’s been really well as far as switching up different personnels, guys working with different guys and being in different situations, just seeing how our defense can gel together under whatever circumstance we’re in. With all the movement Miami does and stuff, it really keeps us disciplined with our eyes and certain techniques.”

And another benefit of the joint practices, especially on the road as the last two have been? Further chance for the team to spend time with each other away from the field.

“It’s going really well; anytime a team travels like this, we’re away from home for three or four days, so just being able to be around each other and eat dinner together, spend time in the hotels, be around the city, whatever, spending that time together helps us gel,” Chinn said. “It only makes the team closer, so when you can have that before the season starts and just kind of have a rhythm, and know how things on the road are gonna be, it feels pretty good.”

Take a listen above as Chinn gives some thoughts on rookie DB Mike Sainristil’s performance so far, his fresh start in Washington, expectations for 2024, Bryce Young vs. Jayden Daniels and more!
