JP Flaim goes off on a rant about the Commanders name after a caller suggests a terrible replacement

Cakes looks like he’s going to lose his bet that the Commanders will have a new name by Week 1 of 2027, and JP still believes it’s not happening – and all hell broke loose on that when, during the opening segment of Thursday’s show, Brendan from Winston-Salem, NC called in and thought he had the perfect replacement:

“I’ve got the name; I don't know exactly the moment, but it hit me sometime over the summer and I've just been listening to all these donks call in…but let me paint you a picture,” Brendan said. “We're coming off a bye week, we’re missing football and yearning for it, and you hear that on Sunday night, the Eagles are traveling down 95 to take on The District. Think about it: the Washington District. Anytime you talk about it, it sounds like the entire DMV is about to get a little rowdy.”

Valdez said “better than Commanders,” but yeah, the guys aren’t feeling it…

“Usually I don’t put those calls through because they’re horrendous, but he was jacked,” Drab said.

And that led to a RANT from JP about all the name change talk.

“When are people going to get over this? I don’t think they’re going to change the name, and every year they move down the road, it's gonna be less and less likely – and let me you something that gets under my skin,” JP said. “These petitions, these people grasping with the petitions, they've infected our timeline on Twitter. There's a million responses about Chief Blacky or whatever the hell is going on…it's not happening! They're not going back to the Redskins, and I don't think they're going to change the name from Commanders.”

Cakes still thinks they will, but the stadium location is priority A1 for now, and Bish thinks that any name change isn’t coming until at least the day the current Northwest Stadium is done…even as Cakes says maybe a little bit before.
