Purdue RB Devin Mockobee On 2nd Year Under Ryan Walters

With the college football season fast approaching, the Purdue Boilermakers are looking to show signs of progress.

2023 was a rough season for the gold-and-black under first-year head coach Ryan Walters, with the team struggling to a 4-8 finish, with a 3-6 record in conference play. The team did end the year on a high note by beating rival IU in the Old Oaken Bucket Game, but heading into 2024, they are setting their sights higher.

During Tuesday’s edition of The Ride With JMV, John spoke to Devin Mockobee, the Boilermakers junior running back, about the difference between Year 1 under Coach Walters and now.

“Coming into this year, especially compared to last year, it’s a lot different atmosphere change. Obviously you see that the roster’s a little bit different, we have different guys in the room, but I think that having a whole new set of guys, and I mean still guys that we had here already, but you can tell that everyone’s just bought in this year. You can see the difference from this year to last year. I just really like everybody that we’ve got in the room that we’ve got right now.”

Devin also spoke about his expectations for himself heading into 2024.

“I don’t really come into stuff like that expecting anything for myself, putting expectations or numbers that I’m chasing for, because at the end of the day the only goal as a team is to win. So when it comes to that kind of stuff, I just want to do whatever I have to do to make sure that we can win games.”
