Rossi, Rasmussen Make Up The Ed Carpenter Stable For 2025

INDIANAPOLIS — One of IndyCar’s most highly sought-after free agents has landed his ride for the upcoming NTT IndyCar Series season.

Alexander Rossi, winner of eight races in his career, including the 2016 Indianapolis 500, will race the #20 car for Ed Carpenter Racing for the 2025 season. He will be paired up with Christian Rasmussen, who will move to the #21 car for the now-departed Rinus Veekay.

I’m eager to get started and contribute to the team’s continued success.”

Rossi is making the move to ECR after spending the last two seasons with Arrow McLaren. The move came after Rossi and McLaren announced in the middle of the 2024 campaign they could not come to terms on a new deal.

Before Arrow McLaren Rossi spent six seasons at Andretti Autosport (now Andretti Global). Rossi also boasts success prior to his IndyCar career with wins in Formula 2 and the 24 Hour of Daytona. He also made a handful of starts in Formula 1.

Rasmussen has re-upped with ECR in a full-time role. he continues with the team that brought him into the top open-wheel series in North America after he won three championships in four years in the IndyCar developmental ladder, including the 2023 Indy NXT Series title.

It’s his first truly full-time ride with ECR after he split time with team owner Ed Carpenter between road courses and ovals.

As for Ed Carpenter, he will be scaling back his driving role with the team. Having been an oval-only driver with ECR for the last few years, Carpenter will now only focus on being the team’s third entry in the Indianapolis 500.

Ed Carpenter Racing is one of the ten now chartered teams with the IndyCar Series and will only have the entries of Rossi and Rasmussen for the whole of the season.
