Man dies after house fire in Sun City West
MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. — A man has died after he was found inside a burning house Tuesday night in Sun City West. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office was dispatched at about 9 p.m. to reports of a house fire near Rico Drive and Black Gold Lane. Firefighters found a man inside the home's burning garage and he was transported to the hospital.
University of Arizona dropping use of 'UArizona' name
TUCSON, Ariz. — The University of Arizona is again revising how it refers to itself to the public. As of July 1, the Tucson-based university was retiring the "UArizona" name it had begun using in press releases a few years ago. The university will simply refer to itself as "Arizona" or "U of A" on secondary references in communications and marketing materials, according to the university's updated style guidelines.
Body recovered from lake at Scottsdale park
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — A man's body was pulled out of a small lake at Vista Del Camino Park on Wednesday. Scottsdale police and firefighters were dispatched to the park, located near Hayden and McKellips roads, for reports of a man who had gone into the water and not resurfaced. A man jumped into the lake to help but was unable to pull the other man out.
Chandler mom arrested after toddler tests positive for methamphetamine
CHANDLER, Ariz. — A Chandler woman is facing multiple child abuse charges after her 2-year-old son tested positive for meth, according to court documents. The alleged abuse came to light when the Arizona Department of Child Safety called Chandler police officers to 38-year-old Argelena Anna Deel's home for a welfare check on her youngest child.

PHOENIX — One man is dead and another person is in the hospital after a crash between two vehicles at 12th Street and Butler Drive in north Phoenix, city police said. According to police, the crash happened around 4:46 a.m. on Wednesday. Two men were taken to the hospital where one later died from his injuries.
