Pedicures are a great way to fix much-needed maintenance on your feet. It can also be a form of creative expression for the nail art girlies. Our toes have long been canvasses for nail artistry !

Whether you’re wondering where to start or come equipped with your own set of ideas, you’ll want to review some of our faves to help you prepare. French manicures, solid colors, regular polish and gel are all to be considered for this special treatment. Here’s our toe-tal approach for popular pedicure ideas.

Things To Consider Before Getting Your Pedicure

You might feel the urge to shave before your pedi appointment, thinking no tech wants to rub a hairy leg. However, body hair is natural. Stubble and fully grown follicles hurt no one. Additionally, when you shave close to a pedi appointment, you risk the chance of getting an infection; the tiny cuts from your hair removal process are still open. Give yourself some wiggle room between shaving and your pedicure appointment to avoid this from happening.

To Design Or Not To Design?

Now that you’re shaved and ready to head to your appointment, let’s talk designs. Whether it’s your traditional, go-to French manicure or chrome, they’re your toes, so choose according to your desires. Detailed designs have come to the front of the line, varying in pattern and color.

And then there are the chrome, iridescent looks that are glam but of the moment. 3D is also having a time, combining floral inspiration and miscellaneous items. And we can’t forget the glass trend of polish that makes your nails look crystal. You can also switch things up with length and shape. Short and natural or acrylic and extension, the shape makes just as much of a statement as the length.

Whether square, oval, coffin or claw, feel free to experiment or stick to what gets your message across. Our aesthetic is always communicating, but the wear (and the length of it) matters too!

Pedicure Ideas: Gel or Regular Polish?

Gel has long been a favorite of the on-the-go girlies who don’t have time to wait for their toes to dry (especially during cold weather season when sandals are out and cuddling is in). There have also been some healthier developments along the lines of dip powder and Gel-X.

If you prefer sporadic visits, then a regular polish pedi could prove beneficial as you can remove the polish yourself when you’re in the mood to change it. If you prefer a gel finish, you won’t have to worry about drying time or the polish coming off in the process of waiting for your next regular pedi. In both cases, it could also extend the life of your pedicure if you add in spa features.

    Spa Pedicures: How To Customize

In the spirit of getting in and getting out, we can sometimes miss out on other spa features. Oils, peels and scrubs can all contribute to the health and beauty of your feet. Oils might already be included in the pedicure experience, depending on what you’ve chosen, although adding Vitamin E to your toenails and legs wouldn’t hurt. Peels may sound a bit intense for the nail shop and more along the lines of an esthetician. Have no fear! Many nail techs have that background to recommend and administer the peel that will get your legs and toes right.

Lastly, scrubs can help transform the pedicure as well, helping to remove any dead skin. Scrubs and peels are, however, suggested only after the pores have been closed for some time.

Now that you have the suggestions (and a rule), we wish you a rejuvenating and artsy pedicure!
