The KU offense opened the season firing, as five of the first seven plays of the game were through the air. KU got a 15-yard run from Devin Neal to get into Lindenwood territory before the Jayhawks faced a fourth and three. KU went for it and Jalon Daniels found Luke Grimm to convert. Three plays later Devin Neal found the end zone on a five yard run. Kansas 7, Lindenwood 04:47: KU's defense was able to get Lindenwood into a fourth and short and the Lions went for it. KU was able to get the stop and the offense took over. On the first play, Quentin Skinner took an end around upfield but he fumbled and Lindenwood recovered. 2ND QUARTER10:11: Things still didn't look smooth for KU during its next offensive possession. Jalon Daniels was intercepted following a miscommunication between him and Grimm. But the KU defense forced a stop and got the offense the ball back. The Jayhawks then moved the ball well and put together a seven-play, 85-yard drive that was capped by a one-yard touchdown run from Neal. The KU running back also had a 53-yard run to set KU up deep in Lindenwood territory. Kansas 14, Lindenwood 08:42: It didn't take long for KU to tack on another score. Mello Dotson intercepted Lindenwood's Nate Glantz and returned it 27 yards for a touchdown. The extra point was no good. Kansas 20, Lindenwood 07:07: The KU defense forced another stop and got off the field. The KU offense took over and on the third play from scrimmage, Daniels found Grimm for a 58-yard score. Kansas 27, Lindenwood 00:03: Lindenwood had one explosive play before KU's defense shut things down again. The Jayhawks took over on their own five yard line with just over three minutes to play. KU marched 95 yards over 10 plays to score a touchdown that came via a one-yard Daniel Hisahw Jr. run. Kansas 34, Lindenwood 0Halftime: Kansas 34, Lindenwood 03RD QUARTER8:23: Jalon Daniels' day appeared to be done, as Cole Ballard took over at quarterback. Devin Neal also sat down and Sevion Morrison went into the game. KU looked to fee Morrison the ball and the running back carried the ball eight times on KU's 11-play drive that resulted in a one-yard rushing touchdown from the redshirt junior. With Johnny Thompson Jr. in the game at running back, Ballard led the KU offense on a 90-yard drive that took 11 plays.
