There was more execution on intermediate routes and passes in the first half, but the second half and turnovers were frustrating and told the story of the game. <a href="https://247sports.com/college/iowa/">Iowa</a> quarterback <a href="https://247sports.com/Player/cade-mcnamara-93369/">Cade McNamara</a> completed 14-of-20 passes for 98 yards and an interception. <a href="https://247sports.com/Player/luke-lachey-46057202/">Luke Lachey</a> was the leading receiver with five catches for 39 yards, Reece Vander Zee had three catches for 29 yards, and <a href="https://247sports.com/Player/jacob-gill-46080513/">Jacob Gill</a> had three catches for 24 yards. Iowa saw a little improvement in the first half with the passing game, but it wasn't enough to help the Hawkeyes move the ball down the field effectively or in certain spots. Rushing OffenseBock: C-Eickholt: C-Ohio State knew that Iowa wanted to run the football, and the Hawkeyes had a couple of strong gains, but for the most part, the Buckeyes were able to limit the Hawkeyes on the ground. Kaleb Johnson had 15 carries for 86 yards with a touchdown and two runs that went for 28 yards. <a href="https://247sports.com/Player/jaziun-patterson-46081922/">Jaziun Patterson</a> had four carries for six yards. <a href="https://247sports.com/Player/brendan-sullivan-46081449/">Brendan Sullivan</a> picked up a 30-yard gain on a designed run play in the fourth quarter. Ohio State was able to bottle up Johnson for most of the game outside of those two runs and that made a difference. Passing DefenseBock: C-Eickholt: C-The key in this game was to make <a href="https://247sports.com/Player/will-howard-46056477/">Will Howard</a> beat you and Iowa was able to do that in the first half. In the second half, the Buckeyes were able to break things open, with <a href="https://247sports.com/college/howard/">Howard</a> completing 21-of-25 passes for 209 yards with four touchdowns to an interception. I thought the Iowa secondary did a great job of keeping the Hawkeyes in the game in the first half with their play and containing the big play, but Ohio State was able to get what it wanted through the air in the second half. Ohio State had four big plays in the passing game that totaled 112 yards. Three of the four were in the second half. Rushing Defense Bock: D+Eickholt: C-Ohio State was able to run the ball effectively with misdirections and counters, and that played a big role in the Buckeyes being able to move the ball down the field. When it was split flow and the Ohio State offense was looking to move Iowa's front seven, the Buckeyes were winning. Ohio State's top two running backs in <a href="https://247sports.com/Player/quinshon-judkins-46100893/">QuinShon Judkins</a> and <a href="https://247sports.com/Player/treveyon-henderson-46049087/">TreVeyon Henderson</a> had 24 carries for 139 yards between them while averaging 5.8 yards per carry. In the first half, the Buckeyes averaged 7.3 yards per carry. Special Teams Bock: DEickholt: D-Drew Stevens missed field goal was big in the first half for momentum as the Hawkeyes could've made it 7-3. <a href="https://247sports.com/Player/rhys-dakin-46145884/">Rhys Dakin</a> did not have his best day punting the ball, while the Iowa punt coverage team missed a punt that could've been downed inside the Ohio State five-yard line.
