User-posted content
There is no arguing that Vegas is one of the best places to vacation if you are looking for action. However, if you are there for an extended period of time, you may want to get away for a day. Most don't realize that there are amazing day trip destinations within 1, 2 and 3 hours away. Breath in some fresh air and see some of the most unique locations in the US.
Here are 6 of our favorite day trip destinations from Las Vegas.
1. Valley of Fire State Park - 60 minutes
This state park has some of the most unique and beautiful rock formations in the state. With easy hikes for the entire family and campgrounds if you want to spend the night, it is a great options close to Las Vegas.
This is the closest day trip from Vegas and once you get there you may forget that you are in Vegas. Beautiful hikes, history from the age of dinosaurs and a amazing loop to drive it is a great option to get some fresh air.
This is one of the most unique places in the US. Not just Nevada. It is a trek to get there but it is worth it. They also have a campground if you want to make it an overnight. Some of our favorite hikes are through slot canyons and this is one of the best ways to do it for the first time.
This national park quickly became a top 5 favorite of ours. We visited in December and think that is the best time to visit unless you are trying to hit bloom or superbloom in March. The hiking is top notch and extremely unique. The view points like none other and there are campgrounds and hotels if you want to extend your stay.
Another national park within 2 hours is pretty amazing. Everyone has heard of Zion and this may be the closest you will get. It is worth just driving through. Hiking will take a little more planning as you can not drive into the main part of the park with the trails. You need to hop on their shuttle.
This is just a cool place to see. Take a tour or just walk across the bridge, but if you do make sure it isn't too windy. If you are afraid of heights take it slowly. You can walk into Arizona and a different time zone too!
