See the Perseid Meteor Shower at Hard Labor Creek State Park

Hard Labor Creek State Park in Rutledge will be hosting a Perseid Meteor Star Party this weekend, and they've got telescopes and astronomers on hand too.

The Perseid Meteor Shower is set to peak this weekend, and Hard Labor Creek State Park is Rutledge is celebrating with their very own Star Party!

The Star Party will take place Saturday, August 10th from 9pm - 1am at the Hard Labor Creek State Park beach area on Lake Rutledge Road.

During this fun event, you can enjoy music, concessions, and the chance to view the meteor shower.

Charlie Elliott Astronomy will also be on hand with volunteer astronomers and telescopes. They are joining Hard Labor Creek Observatory and Athens Astronomy Club so you can stargaze using their telescopes for free! (You can also bring your own telescope.) Athens Astronomy Club will also provide a presentation about meteors and constellations at 9:30 pm that night.

This event is $15 per vehicle with up to 6 people, or $3 per person cash only at the door, plus the $5 Georgia State Parks parking fee. Kids 5 and under are FREE. Gates open at 8:30pm. You can find out more info HERE.
