Known as one of the South’s most popular natural attractions, Rock City, located atop Lookout Mountain in Georgia and just six miles from downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee, debuted its Rock City Seasons earlier this year.

This year, the iconic Southern attraction debuts its “Rock City Seasons,” distinct themed seasons each featuring special celebrations, performances, activities, photo opportunities and more.

Remaining 2024 Rock City Seasons include Fall Colors, September 14-November 8 and HoliDAYS, the daytime complement to the nightly Enchanted Garden of Lights, a longtime holiday favorite November 22-January 4.

There’s something about fall in the South that brings out the child in us. The Chattanooga Valley foliage, pumpkins, hay bales, seasonal decorations and cool brisk weather are part of autumn’s lure. And that’s what visitors will find at Rock City, all providing the perfect backdrop for family photos to enjoy for generations. Guests’ favorite banjo musician Matt Downer will be on hand for musical accompaniment.

For years during the holidays, visitors have flocked to Rock City for its Enchanted Garden of Lights, which celebrates 30 years in 2024. More than two million lights decorate the gardens and rock formations of Rock City, providing a unique holiday experience. The Enchanted Garden of Lights continues in the evenings but HoliDAYS with its festive natural decorations will be its daytime complement.

To ward off a chill that may occur during a balmy Southern winter, stop by Café 7 for Southern dishes and decadent hot chocolate, or pause at the Fudge Kitchen for some of its delectable, sweet goodness. Holiday shoppers will not want to miss the gift shops for one-of-a-kind gifts such as a “See Rock City” birdhouse memorializing the Rock City marketing campaign on American barns that began in the 1930s.

    Where to stay

Numerous lodging opportunities may be found nearby. For a unique stay atop Lookout Mountain, Chanticleer Inn Bed & Breakfast allows visitors to rest comfortably inside a 1927 home adorned with European-style décor directly adjacent to Rock City. The original family operated Chanticleer as an inn, then later expanded the property with cottages, and all offer charm and comfort.
