And they were hunted so thoroughly that their presence became a rare sighting. But Texas Parks and Wildlife says they are back.</p><p>Back in 2000, The <a href="https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&amp;&amp;p=c46a5bd676d002a4JmltdHM9MTY5ODI3ODQwMCZpZ3VpZD0zNDhmMDBhYS1hZDMzLTY2NjUtMTE2YS0xMzBiYWNhNzY3MDkmaW5zaWQ9NTI1Nw&amp;ptn=3&amp;hsh=3&amp;fclid=348f00aa-ad33-6665-116a-130baca76709&amp;psq=texas+parks+and+wildlife+black+bears&amp;u=a1aHR0cHM6Ly90cHdkLnRleGFzLmdvdi9odW50d2lsZC93aWxkL251aXNhbmNlL2JlYXJzLw&amp;ntb=1">Texas Parks and Wildlife Department reported</a> 25 sightings of black bears in Texas, and the majority of those were out west in the Black Gap Region, which is the area where Big Bend National Park is located.</p><p><b>Since then,</b> <a href="https://www.chron.com/life/wildlife/article/texas-bears-hill-country-18435194.php?fbclid=IwAR1dAzzAWgMBJ636hxaoKPNwfVuqEpBjdVrXWKTI_7_L8Xg_mCtvj7b9A8w">Chron.com reports</a> <b>the data shows "in 2021, those numbers shot up to 80 confirmed sightings and 154 in 2022."</b></p><p>If you've seen any here in East Texas, I'd love to hear about it. From what we know, there have been more black bear sightings in the western part of the Texas Hill Country, including Kaufman, Menard, and Kimble counties.
